I would like to nominate Marie Waldon, Nurse Manager of 200 South, for the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. I have worked at Memorial Hospital for three years and have been a nurse for a total of eight years. In all my years of nursing, I have never worked for a more caring, compassionate, fair, and honest manager. Marie Waldon is a GREAT boss and an even better friend!
Last year, I was going through a really rough time in my life and I hesitated telling anyone, especially my boss. I was at a very low point in my life. I said a prayer, trusted in God and told Marie what was going on with me. She stepped right in and helped me to overcome my troubles. I am not really sure just where I would be today had I not told Marie. It is comforting to know that I have someone I can trust and who understands that we all have lives outside of work. Marie is a great asset to Memorial Hospital and it is managers like her that make this a wonderful place to work!
