My daughter came to this unit, 4C, after having complications from surgery. We were frightened and unsure of what would happen at shift change. Marie came in with the biggest smile and an even bigger personality. She got down to my daughter's level and made her feel safe. She immediately noticed the amount of pain she was in and reached out to the doctor to get medications that could better manage her pain. She prioritized my daughter and never once did she make me feel like she was in a rush. If Marie couldn't make it to the room quickly she made sure someone came to take care of our needs. From getting blankets, pillows, to just being an ear that listened.
Nursing isn't just medical. It's a connection you make with people. When Marie came in on her shift all the stress of the day was gone. She treated us like family, like she was a guest in our home and not the opposite.
I can't thank her enough for being brightness in darkness. She is the best nurse I have ever had in my life and my child's. Marie, you were the fresh smell of cinnamon rolls to my daughter and our family. We almost wish we could stay just to see you but very thrilled to get out of here.
