Mariebelle is not just a leader to our team, she is our “home”. She has made this unit a family by demonstrating compassion and respect to each and every one of us and requiring us to do the same. She encourages empathy and works tirelessly to ensure that we as a team work together and have all the resources available to us to be the best we can be. We call her "MOM" because the amount of love and dedication she shows could only be compared to the love and dedication of a mother. She is always there for us and pushes us to be better and achieve all of our goals. She doesn't want us to be good. She wants us to be great! Behind the scenes, Mariebelle is very involved and active-- even if some think she isn't, she is. Her days off are not days off, she continuously works and strives to be the best she can be so we too can be the best we can be. Mariebelle goes above and beyond to make sure our floor is fully staffed even if that means coming in on the weekends herself. Her kindness and genuine compassion are unmatched, not only does she have it towards our patients but that is also towards all of the staff from dietary, housekeeping, volunteers, and even strangers.

There are not enough good things to say about Mariebelle and the amount of love and support she pours into Mehandru 5. When Mariebelle is not attending meetings or rounding on patients, she can frequently be spotted moving beds and supplies around the unit (which she does quickly and efficiently might I add). Mariebelle makes sure to follow up on patient concerns, always. She is always thinking of ways to help make our patients happy and feel welcome on Mehandru 5. Mariebelle is loved by all. People who have previously worked at HMH and left, remember her name and her face. They remember her temperament and hospitality. They come back and ask for her by name. Even when she is disappointed, she is still loving and supportive to us. This is truly reflected by the retention rate of our unit, no one wants to leave and everyone wants to come "home".

Mariebelle teaches all of us the importance of listening and supporting each other. Mariebelle motivates all of us by listening and supporting us. Great nurses are born, not made, the same can be said for strong leaders. Good leaders empower and support staff, and that is exactly what Mariebelle does. She helps guide you to answers, so you can learn. Every day we hold a huddle and she discusses policies and gets everyone up to date but she ends it by always thanking us for our hard work and making sure her staff knows they are making a difference in peoples' lives and that she is proud of us.

Mariebelle is a true role model for anyone who would ever wish to be in a Nurse Manager's position. Mariebelle has dedicated her life to this organization and her staff. She is always accessible, consistent, and compassionate to everyone. It’s a pleasure to work for her especially with the outstanding team she created in Mehandru 5. We are so lucky to have you, Mariebelle. Nobody is perfect, especially when it comes to being a leader, but what I can say is that Mariebelle comes pretty close, and I am proud to call her my leader.
