The first night after my son's first surgery, MK was there for him in every way. He was in a lot of pain, but she brought out glimpses of his silliness by meeting him where he was at. She responded by making him feel loved and taken care of plus connecting with his 4-year-old silly nature and interests. MK advocated for my son, helping him get the pain relief he needed and being there for him throughout the night. She was professional in all her care and administering medicines but at the same time related to my son. He missed his twin brother and she spoke to him about her twin brothers. Her connection and compassion for my son made a huge difference for both of us that first night. She worked with a smile and made everything feel like it would be alright. My son ended up needing a 2nd surgery during our stay. We were both thrilled to get to have MK as his night nurse a second time!
