This faculty member is deserving of receiving The DAISY Award because: Marilee truly encompasses what I believe to be an outstanding role model for all of the students lucky enough to be able to interact with her during clinicals and as an instructor. Marilee provides a model of what I can only hope to achieve as an RN, not only due to the knowledge and skills that she possesses, but her empathy and care that radiate when she is caring for patients. Marilee challenges students, holding us accountable for what we have been taught and encourages us to pursue new information and skills we haven't been introduced too. Marilee makes herself available to students without hesitation and when we question ourselves, she helps instill confidence in us by assisting us hands on with learning and improving skills we may not be comfortable with doing. Marilee has been a true inspiration to me and to other students going through this educational journey. She is one of the most knowledgeable instructors I have encountered at Creighton and if she doesn't know the answer to something (which seems rarely ever), she will find out or direct us to someone who does know. Marilee always makes certain that we understand something we are struggling with and ensures that we can grasp concepts that initially may not have been clear. In meeting different nurses throughout our clinical assignments one name always seems to come up - Marilee. Numerous RNs say, you are so lucky to have Marilee as an instructor, she is wonderful and she is knowledgeable and I couldn't agree more.
