This RN has gone above and beyond to uplift her peers’ spirits during her almost decade of experience as a Parkland nurse, and especially during and after the pandemic. Her resiliency is inspiring! This RN was the first person on our unit to raise her hand when asked for volunteers to provide care to our pregnant/postpartum Covid patients early in the pandemic. She spent many hours providing care to our sick OB patients and served as an excellent resource for others in the TCU. She successfully finished her master’s during the pandemic and has always found a way to balance school, working full-time, and life so well. She consistently comes to work with a positive attitude and never complains, no matter how challenging her assignment is. Her patients frequently recognize her for providing compassionate care, listening to their struggles, and advocating for them. One patient took the time to write her a thank you letter recently calling her and another nurse on our unit “angels” during her hospitalization. This patient mentioned how this RN went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and how much she appreciated her care. This is just one of the many examples of how this nurse makes an impact on the patients she cares for. As a charge nurse, she speaks up respectfully and advocates for her peers. Nearly every employee takes time to recognize this RN for her helpfulness and kindness. She often brings in Tiffs Treats or donuts to boost morale on the unit –her peers frequently comment that she has an incredible sense of knowing when they need a pick-me-up treat. This RN comes to celebrations for her peers on her days off, she takes the time to recognize others and contributes to a positive work environment. She goes above and beyond to raise funds and participate in community outreach programs and volunteer events, and always helps rally around her peers that are struggling and champions collections to do something kind for someone going through a tough time. This RN ensures that every day she gives 100% so that her patients receive the best quality care. This RN is truly an exceptional, compassionate nurse who more than deserves the DAISY Award for the impact she makes not only on her patients, but her co-workers, and her community.
