Murphy created safe spaces for students to process their feelings regarding simulation outcomes and encouraged reflection on both positive and negative experiences.
It is difficult to sum up, Murphy's dedication and care for her students. She conducted all of our simulation experiences and clearly enjoyed watching us learn and grow as individuals. You could tell the amount of effort and time it took to put together an entire day of learning, and you could consistently see her in the simulation lab working, even when there was no simulation to run. Murphy created safe spaces for students to process their feelings regarding simulation outcomes and encouraged reflection on both positive and negative experiences. She was creative in her simulation planning, enlisting herself as a patient, professional actors as family members, and using games and play to help us further our understanding. Outside of simulation, she was an insightful and compassionate faculty member. She dedicates time to get to know her students and brings students' individual experiences to the educational setting to help further develop our critical thinking skills. Murphy is observant and incredibly intelligent and provides an amazing environment for learning. Murphy loves her job, which is clear to see, and she is loved by the student body. Her compassion, dedication, and insight make her an excellent candidate for the Faculty DAISY Award.
