There was a patient on the CICU that was in heart failure and awaiting a heart transplant. He had already been on the unit for a few weeks before Marina had him as a patient. As she got to know him during that first day, they had conversations about their faith and the things he typically loves to do. She found out that he loved art but had not had the chance to do that since he was admitted to the hospital. The next day, Marina came to clinical with art supplies, including a coloring book filled with different bible verses. Her patient was so happy, and you could tell it made her just as happy. The next week, we were there again, and her patient had left a book filled with his own poems for her with a very thoughtful message thanking her for her compassion towards him when he wasn't able to do the things he wanted to do.
