Marinda went right to that patient's room and did all of their cares and medications to help to allow the nurse to focus on her patient in a medical emergency.
When she was a bedside nurse, Marinda was always one of the first people to lend a helping hand and reach out to fellow nurses when they needed help. As she has transitioned to her new role in the VAT team, she continues to help those of us at the bedside by going above and beyond.
Recently in my unit, we had a medical alert and instead of going to the emergent situation, as there were plenty of people, Marinda asked "who is that nurse's other patient?” Marinda went right to that patient's room and did all of their cares and medications to help to allow the nurse to focus on her patient in a medical emergency.
Later that same week a similar situation arose and there was Marinda again stepping into action offering to listen for patients and help other nurses on the unit while many were focused on the code. Marinda is always willing to do whatever task is needed for a patient whether it be a linen change or assisting with a code. We are all so lucky to have someone like her within Children's!
