April 2022 Honoree
Marinelle Alo, BSN, RN
Marinelle was the primary Nurse for a long-term patient who was critically ill from COVID. Unfortunately, he was not a candidate for a lung transplant. This patient was awake and knew the day that he would pass. He decided to donate his organs and remarry his ex-wife to allow her and her children to have military benefits. During the course of her shift, Marinelle took this patient onto the helipad where he received an honorary military flyover for his service in the military. She supported his family as he was re-married and supported the kids during his honor walk to the OR to donate his organs. I cannot think of a better nurse to support this patient and his family during such a challenging time. I am proud to work with her in the HVICU.
Thank you, Marinelle, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
