Marisa was a huge help to our family when our two-month-old daughter needed to have her heart surgery, and it was a blessing to get her as our nurse a few days before we knew the date her surgery was going to take place. We had been in the hospital for over a month already and worked with a lot of great nurses, but Marisa’s friendly, professional, and extremely caring, comforting presence really had a huge impact on all of us. From the start, Marisa would spend quality time in our daughter’s room to attend to our daughter's needs and get to know her. She did the same for us as well, and as parents, it did a lot to help us feel like we were all working together and on the same page. When we were informed that our daughter’s surgery was scheduled, Marisa jumped into action to make sure all the prep work for the surgery was completed in addition to continuing to provide the care she was already providing us. We had a lot of questions, and Marisa took extra time to answer all of our questions about the surgery and really laid out what to expect after the surgery was completed. She walked with us when it was time and we thought that she might be off after working three days straight with us already. To our delight and surprise, she was there again to help us through the first day after surgery! By then she felt like a part of the family and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to be with us through our daughter’s first day post-op . She’s amazing!
