She was so kind and compassionate to the patient. It reminded me why nurses demand our respect and admiration in the first place.
I am a physician who worked with this nurse in the observation/yellow area of the emergency department. The last few days have been very busy with numerous people in the waiting room. She was so helpful that I don’t think the department could have managed without her. She was getting critical tasks done before I could even ask. She had a patient who was given unfortunate news about possible cancer and she was so kind and compassionate to the patient. It reminded me why nurses demand our respect and admiration in the first place. At the same time, she had an elderly patient with a peg tube who required quite a bit of attention. She gave her full attention to all his needs and went above and beyond. She grabbed a blanket to warm her, comfort her while she cried and even called her husband and made him come to the hospital to sit with her. She makes a tough shift easier. I was thankful for her and the amazing nursing staff in the ED.
