She can sense Marisol’s amazing energy; she has a way of making you feel at ease. She presents with genuine concern and does so with compassion.
The patient shared her story, which includes a homebound status and being wheelchair-bound as well. The patient stated their only excursions are to their doctor’s appointment, to the Emergency Room, and to East’s Infusion Clinic. The patient is experiencing a relapse of an extremely rare form of leukemia. The patient shares they were originally treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Mayo Clinic and the patient states they’ve had their fair share of interaction with nurses. The patient also comes from a family with a long line of nurses, so the patient has second-hand experience with the demand of working at the bedside.
The patient continued to say that when Marisol is assigned to care for them, she consummates professionalism, portrays a calm disposition, is pleasant, compassionate, thorough, and has an exemplary bedside manner. No one goes above and beyond like Marisol; she makes the time to care for her patients in a special way. “I’ve even heard the other patients ask if Marisol is working today. We are a little disappointed when she’s not working when we go in.”
The patient feels very reassured and safe when Marisol is the nurse during their visit. Marisol will slow the infusion down when the patient is not doing well or feeling well; “I know, I am in the best hands with Marisol.” The patient has also noticed that if an emergency happens with another patient, Marisol is the first one by the patient to aid and provide interventions. “She is far and few between any other nurse I have been cared by, and believe me, I’ve been cared for by hundreds of nurses given my history and where I’ve received treatment. Marisol is a breath of fresh air.”
