My mother and I truly believe this nurse was a blessing. I underwent surgery on a Thursday and, unfortunately, was not healing as expected. In fact, my condition seemed to be worsening. Despite being prescribed multiple narcotics and opioids, my pain remained severe. On Sunday morning, Marisol came on shift and immediately began reviewing my chart with my mother and me. We shared our concerns and expressed our frustration about how long I would have to endure such pain before someone took our situation seriously; it had been over 50 hours. Without hesitation, she contacted the surgical team and requested a reevaluation of my case. My mother was moved to tears because, for the first time, we felt truly heard and supported. Marisol not only listened but acted. As a result, I returned to surgery the following day, and my recovery finally began. I cannot imagine where I would be today without Marisol's kindness, compassion, and unwavering advocacy.
