My recovery process was much smoother and I believe faster due to Marisol’s expertise, reassurance, and effective communication
Marisol Sandoval often receives nominations from patients for the DAISY Award, including as follows:
I underwent a myomectomy to remove several large fibroids. This was my first surgery and my first experience receiving any hospital care. My care with Marisol started two weeks before my surgery, with a list of necessary medications, hospital procedures, and processes leading up to my surgery. I continued to follow up with Marisol several times with any questions I had and I felt comfortable to do so because of her compassion and her ability to listen to my concerns.
I felt prepared in the days leading up to my surgery including when I would receive a call to notify me of my surgery time, when and where to get blood work, Covid-19 testing requirements, and navigating through it all. Marisol walked me through possible timelines and scenarios on the day of the surgery. I was prepared to ask for water as soon as I was clear to drink, ice packs to help with swelling, and what to expect during the healing process. As a result, I felt completely empowered to advocate for myself and my well-being.
Marisol and my medical team were in complete communication with each other, which undoubtedly gave me a wonderful hospital experience and the best care possible. During home recovery, Marisol followed up with me, guiding me through the wound healing process and ensuring I was doing well. Marisol was pivotal in removing much of the stress and anxiety I felt leading up to, during, and after my surgery. My recovery process was much smoother and I believe faster due to Marisol’s expertise, reassurance, and effective communication. I am recognizing Marisol for her excellence in nursing by providing me with the knowledge and education to advocate for myself in addition to making sure I had the best experience during my hospital stay.
Since I had contact with her by phone, she always helped me with any questions and doubts about the procedure I was going to have. On the day of my operation, I had the pleasure of meeting Marisol, a nurse who loves her vocation. She is very kind and excellent at everything. I appreciate all your information and care. Marisol is number one for me, and all over the Sinai hospital. Finding people like that makes all the suffering pass quickly. Someone who loves their vocation is worth gold to everyone.
Marisol is an excellent human being apart from her professionalism. From the beginning of my preparation for my surgery, Marisol prepared me mentally, emotionally, and physically. She worked as a team with me, was friendly, and listened to my needs even if they were out of reach to help with them. She was attentive at all times before, between, and after. She visited and was very attentive to me and that made me feel like I was at home. Marisol demonstrates and has all the abilities to support, guide, and influence me as a patient in everything that fits in the positive of my mental, emotional, and physical recovery. I thank her for all the attention and kindness, and I hope Marisol will never change her humility. (I send) a lot of love and respect.
