December 2023 Honoree
Marissa Gonzales, RN
As I have phased the hardest season of my life, I truly felt like my son had a phenomenal nurse who just made this process a little easier. Marissa was able to be my son's nurse for a few nights and she truly was amazing. She takes/took the time to make a connection with us (the patient's parents). In everything she did, she demonstrated sensitivity, fragility, and empathy. From talking to my son sweetly even when he was in a coma to bringing him a stuffed animal, a robe, and a blanket to make him comfortable. She treated my son the way I would treat him...with love and compassion. She respected our faith and moments of prayer at all times and even was able to find my son a quilt that stunned and represented our beliefs. Her knowledge really shined as she answered our questions, demonstrated, and performed our son's medical plan nightly. I felt honored to have been treated this way, but most importantly, my son. Thank you, Marissa.
Thank you, Marissa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
