She was always there with hugs when I had my breakdowns, especially in the first few days when my baby was so sick.
The nomination states, “Marissa was a light in dark times. She was always there with hugs when I had my breakdowns, especially in the first few days when my baby was so sick. She brought me food when she knew I didn’t eat; she brought her smiling face and caring words when I needed them most. She was a true advocate for my baby, and her optimism and kindness were very much appreciated when everything around me felt like it was falling apart."

Mom goes on to write, “She came to visit when she wasn't assigned to our room and even came in to say goodbye when we were discharged. Her smiling face always put me immediately at ease because her care was extraordinary. Her genuine commitment to patient wellbeing should be recognized. We had many great nurses during our stay, but Marissa stands out as being the most knowledgeable, supportive, and caring. I will remember her forever for the incredible care she gave us during my scariest of times with my baby. We are forever grateful to Stonybrook Children's Hospital for the amazing care our baby received during those horrifying days of great sickness."

Marissa, thank you for making a difference in the lives of your patients and their families at the Children’s Hospital.
