A patient that happened to work in the system described Mark as an attentive and compassionate nurse that took the time to get to know her on a personal level.
Mark has been recognized on numerous occasions for the caring and compassionate care that he consistently provides. As a newer nurse, he has managed to balance learning his role and everything that comes with becoming a competent caregiver while maintaining a professional and personable relationship with his patients and as his team.

This personalized care has resulted in many You Got Caught Caring nominations, mentions on patient surveys as well as many accolades during leadership rounds. On one occasion while doing leader rounds a patient that happened to work in the system described Mark as an attentive and compassionate nurse that took the time to get to know her on a personal level. He was very attentive to her needs and also stated that, “He should be the face of Memorial Hermann.”

Another patient acknowledged Mark and wrote, "I am so grateful and excited to know and to be taken care of by this wonderful staff. They were so caring, respectful, and sweet. Mark is an outstanding nurse. Thank you for everything and the excellent nursing care!"

Yet another patient commented that “Mark took very good care of my Dad. My family and I are very thankful." Mark has only been a nurse for just over a year having started in Neuro IMU as a graduate nurse. Since joining the team he has shown an eagerness to contribute and to grow both clinically and professionally. He is viewed by his team as an excellent teammate often putting others' needs above his own while still maintaining excellent care to his patients. This has earned him the opportunity to continue to grow his knowledge and skills in the Neuro ICU where he will transfer to next month.  Mark consistently goes above and beyond providing compassionate care to not only his patients but the families and his team as well. He epitomizes what The DAISY Award is about. Thank you, Mark, for all that you do!
