I had the opportunity to work with Mark on a complicated Veteran situation. He called me one morning and described the condition of the Veteran that was in his office. He was homeless, recently discharged from the hospital and the discharge plan failed. Veteran has severe CHF and had an inswelling urinary catheter with lasix and the need for strict intake and output management. This was complicated by the Veteran's alcoholism.

Mark was a very strong advocate for this Veteran and I could feel his kindness and respect toward the Veteran in our phone calls. He kept the Veteran up to date on his options and in the end, Mark convinced him to come to White City to request admission for alcohol treatment.

The competence and caring displayed by Mark shone throughout and I credit him for the good outcome for this Veteran. White City and all our Veterans are blessed to have a nurse of such high caliber working for them.
