It warms my heart to acknowledge Mark for positively impacting the patient and myself as the support person. His greeting and demeanor immediately eased the anxiety of the patient. Mark's approach is all about establishing the connection that all humans need to feel valued. That number one focus did not take away from the proper protocol, yet it was happening the entire time! For the lack of a more professional word, it was magical! Observing the patient go left through the surgical doors being calm and relaxed, I got to be calm and relaxed in the waiting room. This ease gave me peace of pind that all would be okay. My mind was free from worrisome thoughts- what a gift! Mark, by our standards, is a consummate nurse in this role. Saint Mary's is blessed to have such a compassionate, caring, and intuitive nurse on their staff! The name Mark is a perfect fit as he hit the high mark with us! Mark's personable approach touched our hearts far more than the actual surgery! He is a gift for mankind. I loved witnessing the transformation.
