I work as a RN in our great hospital, in the NICU, but recently I experienced our hospital from the patient's point of view. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September and have since been receiving spectacular care in all areas of CCH. I have come across so many employees that are deserving of this award, but having to go through 3 surgeries in 6 weeks - I narrowed it down to the awesome OR nurses. Mark Zimmer spent time on a very busy day in the OR to talk with me, answer questions and offer reassurance. He gave me some great advice before my first surgery and he kept a special paper I had with Bible verses on it safe for me during the operation. When I woke in PACU, my paper was in my hand. I can't explain what this meant to me. I asked if he was working when I was in for my second surgery so that I could thank him. He again came to the side of my stretcher and took time to talk with me before surgery. He is a special and skilled nurse who deserves to be acknowledged because he made an enormous positive difference in my experience as a patient going through a difficult experience. I can only thank him from the bottom of my heart and I nominate him because he is awesome!
