Markesha is the definition of a nurse. She has both the science and the art of nursing. Her care for my 88 year old father in law and large loving family for just one 12 hour shift was enough to leave an impression in our hearts and minds. My father in law came to the ED very unexpectantly with a now known subdural hematoma. To add to everything, my father in law had full-blown shingles, was confused and was voiding in bed. It was a minute to minute task to keep up with his needs. Kesha did not have a tech with her that day. She continued her 12 hour shift with compassion, patience, empathy, competence and commitment. She quickly became part of our family. She never had a disparaging word or frown on her face. She handled this insurmountable patient with grace. Being a nurse myself, I was extremely thankful that we had the opportunity to meet Kesha and that she was involved with the care of my father in law.
