Marla is a great patient advocate. Recently, a patient was admitted with well-known history of drug dependency for pain. Marla facilitated and appropriately advocated with the pain service to get back on board to review the patient status again. Marla takes her time to explain to the patient's mother, who was concerned that between the steroids and IV pain medicine, her daughter was a completely different person. Marla's actions resulted in providing great comfort, patient satisfaction with pain management care as well as increased patient/family understanding of treating her pain.
