One of Marleen’s patients wanted to pray with the chaplain before her surgery, but time was not on her side. The surgery team was ready and waiting for her to be wheeled into OR. Instead of brushing aside the patient’s prayer request, Marleen stopped and asked if she could say the Lord’s Prayer with the patient and her spouse. This brief, but oh-so-important moment of prayer greatly relaxed the patient and calmed the waiting family member.
