All the staff was very helpful, but I felt a connection with nurse Marlie (who works nightshift). Whenever she was working and came in to check on me, she speaks so politely, so softly, and with love. Made me feel like I was talking to my old childhood friend.

On the day I found out I was going to be discharged from the hospital, my husband and my mom went back to Garden City to get my stuff, so I was alone in the room for the whole day. I was upset but busy arranging my hotel stay, making a list of things I needed from home, and lots of other stuff. When Marlie came to work that night, she came to check on me and I cried like a baby in front of her. She was so supportive and listened to me talk about all my stresses. She made me feel so comfortable with her. I don’t know why, but I discussed so many private things with her that I would never discuss with anybody else. Her personality and the way she talks just feel like a family member's “kind of touch.” Just by looking at her, you get positive vibes.

Another day, when I had bad back pain, she comforted me with a hot pack and pillow. It was so nice that I slept well for a few hours. I feel like I am blessed to have Marlie as my nurse. After watching so many nurses working around me, even my husband noticed how soft-spoken, polite, and patient Marlie was. Love and blessings to Marlie.

Marlie, you exemplify what “caring like family” truly means. Thank you for making such an impact on this patient and other patients you care for. You are such an asset to your unit and to Wesley Healthcare.
