Marlina has only been a nurse in the CCU for three years and has outstanding skills for a new critical care RN. She is dedicated to her job and has an incredible amount of compassion for her patients. Her empathy extends well beyond the bedside. She has the amazing ability to connect with families and is a strong advocate for her patients. Recently, Marlina received a patient at change of shift during the night. The patient was critically ill and expressed his desire to pass away in peace. He decided that his fight with advanced heart failure had ended and he wanted to join his wife in heaven. All day his family encouraged him to keep fighting because they loved him so much. When Marlina took over the care of the patient, she talked to him about his wishes. With his requests clearly stated, Marlina arranged a meeting with the patient's family and the healthcare team, and she was able to help his family accept and understand his wishes. That night, the patient transitioned to comfort care and passed away in peace with his loving family and nurse by his side. Marlina is a great asset to the CCU with her endless compassion towards patients, great team-work, and leadership ability. We are so proud to work with such an amazing nurse!
