The administrative supervisor took a call from Marlow. Marlow was at home and following up on a patient discharged the previous day. The patient had reached out to nursing supervisor, and Marlow contacted patient. While here, the patient needed support giving insulin to himself. The discharge plan was that Palliative Care would follow him at home and administer the insulin. The patient was concerned because no one had come to his house or called him. Marlow drove to patient’s house (this was on Saturday and Marlow’s day off), administered the insulin, and prepped the meds for the next day. He spent 3 hours with the patient, reinforcing education and making sure he had what he needed. Marlow is a wonderful example of living our mission.
