The Hospice House had a patient with an uncommon situation where the patient and family were homeless. The patient was admitted to the Hospice House and passed away 3 days later on a weekend. The patient's son had nowhere to go. Marissa offered the son to stay the night in the Hospice House after the patient passed. Marissa provided support and comfort to the son regarding his situation. She attempted to find a shelter for the son to go to until the services closed after his father's death. Marissa is a nurse who is always putting herself in the patient's and family's shoes. She never hesitates to advocate for patient and family situations in order to provide care above and beyond expectations. This is an example of the day-in and day-out compassionate care Marissa provides - the exceptional care continued after the patient was discharged from our services and at the very end of her 12-hour shift for the day.
