June 2026 Honoree
Marsha Miller, RN
I am honored to recognize Marsha for the extraordinary care she has provided to my father during his stay in the ICU at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital.
Over the past week, my father has faced a difficult and vulnerable time in the ICU. Throughout his stay, Marsha has consistently demonstrated a level of compassion, attentiveness, and dedication that goes far beyond what we expected.
One of the things that has touched our family most is the way she has preserved my father's dignity. She has taken the time to clean his mouth, bathe him, and ensure his comfort multiple times during her shifts. While these tasks are part of patient care, she performs them with a level of attention and compassion that makes my father feel cared for as a person. In fact, despite seeing many nurses throughout his ICU stay, she has been the only one who has consistently gone the extra mile to provide this level of personal care and comfort.
What truly sets her apart is the way she treats my father, not as a diagnosis, a room number, or a task to be completed, but as a human being deserving of dignity, respect, and kindness. She speaks to him, comforts him, and advocates for his needs even when he is unable to advocate for himself.
She has also been an incredible source of support for our family. She always takes the time to listen to our concerns, answer our questions, and explain what is happening with patience and understanding. Her calm demeanor and genuine empathy have helped ease our anxiety during one of the most difficult weeks of our lives.
In the ICU, technical skill is essential, but compassion is what families remember. Marsha exemplifies both. Her exceptional nursing care, unwavering kindness, and commitment to treating every patient with dignity have made a lasting impact on our family.
We will never forget the comfort she brought to my father and the reassurance she provided to all of us. She embodies everything the DAISY Award represents, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition."
