Marta "Tica" Harrison, RN
My father was brought here from the rehab in Rockville. He had cardiac mitral valve replacement and the Maze procedure. Switching rehabs was scary. But the moment we met Tica, we felt safe.
She knew what worked for dad and his pain and had solutions for what didn’t. She made sure that not just my dad was comfortable, but that I was, too, being here every day for 7 to 8 hours. I was confident leaving dad in the afternoon knowing he was in her care.
She has a bubbly personality that definitely affects the level of care she provides. It doesn’t just help Dad heal physically; it’s helped his mental health stay in a good place as well. It’s hard being away from home, especially for a long time and not having much control over your day-to-day life. She let him make choices. It wasn’t “it’s time for your pain patch.” It was “Is the pain patch working? Here are some other options. What would you like to do?”
She is more than proficient at her craft; she is a master of her care. She builds an atmosphere of trust. She is very personable and always good for an (appropriate) joke. My dad is a big joker, so she knew her audience well. She would light up the room when she’d come in.
Clearly dedicated to the well-being of her patients. She has a wealth of kindness that most definitely influences the care she provides. Truly, every time we’d see her was a joy. Care staff can make or break an experience, and she was 100% a make. A treasure.
