She presented with a locked gaze staring at the ceiling and would not respond to questions. Lt Miller knew there was an issue and notified the team right away.
Lt Miller was on call for the operating room. He was called for a C-section at 3 am Saturday morning. He arrived within 30 minutes. He was wheeling the patient to the OR and asked the patient how she was, and she said, "I am not feeling well, the room is dark, and I have a headache." He told anesthesia, and she addressed the issue. The procedure went well, baby and mom were good. When the patient was rolled back to the room, she stated again that the room was dark, and she had a headache. She presented with a locked gaze staring at the ceiling and would not respond to questions. Lt Miller knew there was an issue and notified the team right away. They hooked her up to see her vitals, and her blood pressure was extremely low. They pushed on her fundus, and a huge number of clots and blood filled a basin. This was already completed in the OR. Lt Miller took it upon himself to call a code purple and had the process initiated. Blood was given to the patient, and a Jada was placed by the surgeon to control the bleeding. The surgeon completed her assessment of the patient and concluded there was no cervical lac. The team stayed for 4 hours until the patient was stable. Lt Miller was observant in his nursing to say something and alert the team of the patient's condition.
