June 8, 2008 was indeed a turning point in my life. It was the day I had life-saving major heart surgery. I had requested to see a chaplain prior to surgery, but no one from the spiritual department showed up. I was anxious and sad when I went into the operating room without having someone to pray with. Martha was the first person I saw when I went into the operating room. As she was helping me up on to the operating table, I told her I was scared and asked her if she could pray for me. I will never forget her kind eyes and the touch of her hand holding mine as she said a powerful and comforting prayer for me in a very soft voice. Her face and her prayer are the last memories I have until I woke up several days after surgery. In my opinion, Martha is not only a DAISY Nurse, she was indeed my Guardian Angel on June 8, 2008!
