The behaviors and actions of Martha Laird meant everything to me when I was a patient in her care. My medical situation left me in the hospital, scared and unsure. She helped me through everything by expressing compassion, respect, empathy and an approachability I did not expect in a medical setting. She made sure to treat me as an individual and made me feel special. I knew that my care mattered to her and that she was providing the best care possible for me. She stood out as an extraordinary nurse, even amongst all the other great nursing staff in the unit. Martha really knew what she was doing in her job and she was great at it.
