We know it is your job to come to the hospital, but your compassion and care are not part of your paycheck. Although our time together that evening was very brief, it was more powerful than you know. You brought calmness to a mother who knew her daughter was in danger, and to a father who was prepared that his child might not be doing ok when she was born, and to see his wife in a state he could do nothing about. Leaning on you, Martha, during a time when I could not imagine finding stillness, well, there are no words. I felt like I was being held in the arms of Mother Mary. Martha, you were placed there for me that evening. You simply do not hear it enough, thank you for what you do, but more importantly how you do it. You were all God's hands to deliver our baby girl that evening.
