Martha Summins is a tremendous person. Luckily for us and our patients, she is an awesome nurse as well! From the moment she started in the summer of 2013, Martha has come to work with the best attitude. Every. Single. Day. She is constantly smiling - patients and family notice this and are comforted by her warm and upbeat presentation. She wants to learn and improve herself so that she can better serve those who need her skills. It is clear that she loves everything about her calling as a nurse. She is affable, available, and most definitely able. But she isn't someone who is just good at carrying out orders - almost anyone can do that - she is very thoughtful and asks excellent questions. She makes sure that the orders MAKE SENSE to her and if they don't, she is not afraid to speak up. Her updates on patient status are spot-on. And whenever she is caring for one of my patients, I know that the patient will have an excellent experience because patients and their loved ones are treated like her own family and friends. Advocate Illinois Masonic is lucky to have such a wonderful nurse (by the way, she bakes awesome cookies, too!).
