My child was able to be vulnerable and most importantly trust that Hope was going to do her very best to make sure my child was receiving the best possible care.
My child was admitted after having a medical emergency. My child was extremely nervous and scared as this was our first time ever being admitted to Medical City-Dallas. On my child's second day of admission, we met her new nurse. Her name is Hope, and I will start by saying her name truly fits her. There were a few times I would have to leave my child because I had to work. And every parent that has ever had to do that knows just how awful it feels. As the days passed, my child was getting sad, losing hope that she would be sent home sooner rather than later. One day while I was making my way back to my child's room, through the window blinds I could see my child's nurse, Hope, talking at eye level with my child, and comforting her as my child was crying. My child was able to be vulnerable and most importantly trust that Hope was going to do her very best to make sure my child was receiving the best possible care. Hope noticed that my child was not herself and would go out of her way to spend extra quality time when she could to stay and chat with my child. Hope is why this award exists. Thank you for allowing me to share our story.
