Losing my grandfather in the traumatic way it happened was devastating, but Martha eased the pain in a way no one else could. Her patience, kindness, and knowledge made a world of difference. She gave me the strength to endure some of the most difficult days of my life. Any time I had a question, she answered in the most gentle, kindest, and most understanding way while giving us the best answer to fully comprehend our situation.

On the last day of my grandpa's life, my cousin and I were really struggling. Martha calmed us down and created a very peaceful environment. We were able to get a handprint and make one last memory. As he was passing, Martha stayed and guided and consoled us in a way no one could. Then she gave me his last heartbeat, which is something I will never forget. As my grandpa was passing, I remember clutching his hand and locking eyes with Martha; a blinding sadness consumed me, but one look at Martha and she mouthed, "It is going to be OK," and it was. She really gave us the strength to move after he had passed.

My 15-year-old cousin was having a very difficult time, and Martha sat with her and guided and consoled her as none of us could in that moment. Martha was an Angel to our family. Unfortunately, our family has been through our fair share of death, but this experience with Martha was truly heartwarming. I hope all nurses and healthcare workers will show kindness and compassion. Our family will never forget Martha.

Thank you, Martha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
