We had to come to the community after my mom had a brain hemorrhage last July and was in the hospital for a month. I wasn’t' sure if my mom could bounce back after that, but Marti took my mom under her wing, and even though my mom wasn't really responding, Marti talked to her, brought her wheelchair next to her workstation when we weren't there, and just kept her company. Marti would turn on old music and sing and have my mom laughing and smiling in no time. Marti could ALWAYS make her smile when no one else could. We hated to leave. My mom was in another facility for a long time, and she was hospitalized again because of aspiration pneumonia in October. After a week there we were told we had to go to rehab again before going back to Brookdale. Sadly, we did not get Marti this time, but she found out that my mom was there. Then we found out she had been visiting my mom before going to her own shift every time she came to work! THAT is going above and beyond. I don’t know anyone else who would do that, and we so appreciate all the love and care she gave and continues to give our mom.

Marti is helpful and happy and makes a huge difference in every patient. They are in great care, and they love her!!!! She is always smiling and happy. Please recognize her spirit, her empathy, and her love for our patients. Also, she helps the providers a lot. :) I have been in healthcare for 24 years. Marti has the compassion of a saint. I have heard her sing to patients. She is Amazing!!!
