Martin was taking care of the patient in ICU. The family was talking about withdrawing care and making the patient comfort care, on a Friday. They wanted to bring the grandma from the nursing home to see the patient first. They wanted the patient to be pain free when grandma came.

Martin was off Saturday but came in to help the family with this decision. After the grandma saw the patient, they decided to withdraw care the next day, Sunday. They wanted to know when Martin worked next. They had such good rapport with him they wanted him to be the RN when they withdrew care. Martin was not working until Monday came in on Sunday so they could withdraw care and the patient would not suffer another day. They withdrew (life support) on Sunday with Martin (as the family requested) as the RN and the patient passed peacefully.

Thank you, Martin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
