Martin was noted to take exceptional care of a patient and family going through end of life care. He spent an extensive amount of time trying to resolve issues regarding the patient's pacemaker, discharge, and medications in spite of all the obstacles he met, multiple phone calls, and family issues. He had a full load of patients with multiple admissions and discharges. Upon the discharge of the patient, Martin and I pushed the patient out on a gurney to the car where we transferred the patient onto an air mattress in the car with the assistance of a member of the Lift Team. Martin stayed with the patient's family until the patient was comfortable for the car ride home. This was a very emotional process for Martin and the family. He remained calm under pressure and was very resourceful and creative in dealing with the family's anxiety and concerns. In spite of the help, it was a difficult process for him to handle and he handled it well. As a nurse I was very impressed at his character and concern and compassion for the patient and family.
