My son had been through an unexpected long surgery and was having issues with pain. He has a history of a significant traumatic brain injury, and Marvin could not have been kinder to him. He listened to my son and took the extra time needed to make him feel comfortable.
After his surgery, my son was having difficulty sleeping through the night. Marvin could see that he was in need of sleep and a welcomed distraction. He helped my son into a wheelchair and took him on a tour of University Hospital, chatting with him the whole time. When he returned, he was finally able to sleep.
Marvin demonstrated all the values of the Culture of Yes. I've been in nursing for more than 30 years and he demonstrated the best of what nursing should be. He showed my son kindness, empathy, and compassion. He is a great example of nursing at its finest.
