Mary Ann Baltierra was nominated by her peers for her compassion toward a Spanish speaking patient who was actively dying and did not have family present. The patient was very anxious, so Mary Ann sat at his bedside, which was on a different unit, listened to his concerns, answered questions and prayed with him. The patient was extremely grateful and felt comforted.
