July 2025 Honoree
Mary Ann DeLara, BSN, RN
There was a patient’s husband who had not called for almost two to three days to ask for updates. We tried calling his phone multiple times but received no answer. We became concerned about the situation since he is elderly and had just undergone a surgical procedure the day he last called.
We decided to place a wellness call, but the address on file was for the group home where the patient had been staying before admission, not their home address. After searching online and verifying the correct address with the patient’s wife, we were able to locate him. The patient’s husband was found at home lying on the floor and was subsequently admitted to a sister facility.
Thank you to Mary Ann DeLara and team for their outstanding commitment to patient advocacy, empathy, and compassion that extends beyond the patient to their families as well.
