She is a role model for ideal care
Bea possesses all the qualities of a DAISY. She is kind and compassionate. She makes a point to connect with her patients on a personal level and do the little extras a patient appreciates. She is knowledgeable. Bea constantly shares her knowledge in each role she assumes, seasoned bedside nurse, charge nurse, or preceptor. She is a person who is willing to share her expertise with others and always gets the job done. Her experience allows her to care for the most complicated patients and she always connects not only to the patient but to their families as well. She focuses on the core measures and preventing hospital-acquired illness. She is the nurse who will always do what is in the best interest and has been a champion of mobility to decrease LOS and complications. Her clinical skills are superior. She alerts physicians with changes and advocates for the patient. She is a role model for ideal care. An example of this exists in a note sent by a family member about Bea.
" My husband was admitted into the MICU as a transfer from Forbes on a ventilator. There were a lot of difficulties and the entire staff was more amazing than I could have EVER hoped for! Every decision regarding his care was carefully thought out and discussed between the doctors, nursing staff, and respiratory therapists. When I first met Bea she immediately put me at ease (which was not easily done during this time). She is knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. Not only in caring for my husband, but in explaining each detail of every action that was taken in his care, comforting me, and lending a hand to help her coworkers. I know that Bea took my husband 'home with her' (so to speak) on her days off, keeping him in her thoughts. I appreciate how she helped make our days feel more 'normal' as my husband healed in the MICU. After he left the MICU Bea would stop by to visit him and celebrate each moment of recovery with us. We will be forever grateful for this incredible woman. "
Bea cares for her patients as if they were her family and she does "take her patients home with her" advocating, cheering, and praying for a speedy recovery. An extraordinary nurse. A true DAISY :)
