When I first came to the floor I was frustrated because I felt like I was showing kindness to every one of the staff caring for me and no one was showing kindness back to me. After being fed-up, I decided to ask for the charge nurse but instead, I got an angel. As soon as I met Mary Beth, she began to comfort me. Since she saw me crying, she immediately started to do things that made me feel more welcomed even though she was very busy. She stayed by my side and told me she was going to get the IV in no matter how long it took. And after she found one (a vein) she told the charge nurse to make sure my next nurse was filled with compassion. I am pretty sure this note sounds like she (Mary Beth ) was just doing her job, but for the first time I did not feel like I was speaking to another worker. She made me feel like I was a friend. We need more nurses like Mary Beth, especially on those days when you feel like you have no one who cares about you.
