Congratulations to Digestive Health charge nurse Mary Beth Ragsdale, our newest DAISY Award Honoree. Mary Beth was presented with the prestigious nursing award at a team huddle on September 3 after learning that her coworker A had nominated her for the honor.

She is the first person here every morning, readying the unit, taking sick calls, rearranging the day to make sure our staffing is covered, A said of Mary Beth. She stays until the last patient is out of their procedure.

In addition, Mary Beth helps wherever needed, transporting patients, removing linens, and cleaning rooms, A says. She helps de-escalate situations when patients do not come prepared and prepped, do not have rides home, or instructions aren’t followed, and she helps us reschedule patients who may have misunderstood their instructions and need to come back.

A tireless advocate for her teammates, Mary Beth makes every effort to treat team members fairly when making their schedules and handling their vacation requests, according to A. She is our go-to when it comes to anything and everything, from how to transfer patients from outpatient to inpatient or emergency care.

She is dedicated to making this place run as smoothly as possible for the best outcomes every day. She is absolutely invaluable, and all of our staff agrees that we would not run as smoothly without her. This organization is blessed to have her!
