From the moment I met Mary, the compassion and professionalism not only towards my mom, but my interactions with this nurse, shown through.
My 98-year-old mom was a patient during the time that Nurse Mary oversaw her medical care. From the moment I met Mary, the compassion and professionalism not only towards my mom, but my interactions with this nurse, shown through. My mom was intubated and Mary ensured that mom was situated comfortably in bed, clean, would inform me of the medications that were administered to her and always answered any questions or concerns that I had. When Mary was taking care of mom, the focus and care for the patient touched my heart because I knew that if this is how this nurse took care of mom, then this is how this nurse takes care of all their patients.

After mom’s tubes were removed, Mary gently situated mom in the bed, removed her IVs, and told me that they would monitor mom’s waning vitals from the desk and would come in just prior to mom’s passing. In those last previous moments, Mary’s actions, compassion, and humanity were a welcomed and needed balm. Mary's care and concern for their patients comes from the heart, they cannot be taught. I’m so blessed and thankful that Mary was mom’s nurse at her end of life.
