I gave birth to my son and had a very traumatizing experience with his lungs having fluid/his needing to be in the nursery. He improved over the time I was in recovery, but still needed to be monitored for close to 5 hours post my being in recovery. I was able to see him on my way to the room and was told I could come back down soon. Mary overheard and sprang into action. She immediately said "yes" we are making that happen. She came down to my room, got me all set up, drove me to my baby and made it so I could see him. I cannot tell you how significant it was for me to feel advocated for and have her push for me to be with my baby. Mary's sense of humor, compassion, levity and a strong drive to support my family and I will always be remembered! She was our champion during such distress. We were very fortunate to have her as our nurse once I was readmitted for pre-eclampsia days after going home. She immediately reconnected with us - conveying such a sense of welcoming/caring.
