Our son was born at 28 weeks at the Mother Baby Center on February 13th and was admitted to the NICU. Mary Egbert became his Primary nurse and I don't think we would have had the same positive experience without her determination, compassion, and caring heart. He spent 30 days in the NICU. He suffered with underdeveloped lungs, chest tubes and a staph infection. Mary provided him with exceptional care and I could just feel that she cared for him personally and was determined to get him back on the path to good health. My husband and I stayed for weeks at the hospital and it was rare for me to feel comfortable leaving his bedside. But whenever Mary was working she had a way of making me feel at ease. I feel that Mary is a well deserving recipient of The DAISY Award because she embodies the values of Children's nursing, she demonstrated exceptional clinical skills, and provided compassionate care to not only my son but to us, his parents. My husband and I gave Mary a nickname and we began calling her our "NICU Angel". I could never thank her enough for taking care of a piece of my heart when I had to leave it here at Children's Hospital. Thanks Mary for all you do!

Thank you, Mary, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
