November 2013 Honoree
mary ella arnold 0, RN
A coworker nominated Mary Ella for her care of a patient who was on the nursing unit for over 100 days. He had no family. Mary took him as her own family member. She bathed him, shaved him, and cut his hair. When Mary Ella recognized that this patient was nearing the end of his life, she got him a suit and tie. She helped him into the suit and tie for a prayer service that she had arranged with a chaplain. The staff attended the service and had a prayerful acknowledgement of the patient's life with him. The patient passed knowing that he was not alone, thanks to Mary Ella.
Thank you, Mary, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
